Littering of use and throwaway plastics causes severe damage to the environment and hence all the used or thrown away plastics have to be collected and channelized for recycling and for scientific end uses.

Generally Thermoplastics, owing to its properties, are recyclable, after sorting out based on the type of distinct polymer namely Polyethylene terephthalate, High-Density Polyethylene, Polyvinyl Chloride, Low-Density Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polystyrene etc and may be made into many useful products like furnitures, building materials, etc… Successes have also been achieved in using the plastic waste for laying roads.

Thermosetting plastics on other hand are only incinerable, hence suitable for generating energy and so, used as co-fuel in cement kilns.

The present practice of recycling of plastics find its application in many ways and thus enhancement of recycling will equate the generation and usage so as to achieve “Swach Bharat” mission.
